Program Notes
The Robots Have Taken Over is now the third iteration of this concept and electronic track. Originally beginning as an experiment during the 2020 pandemic, I wrote the track first and conceptualized the piece for Tenor Saxophone (The Robots are Taking Over). Shortly after, I was requested to create Tuba and Euphonium versions which have since become incredibly popular including being used as a competition piece for the Falcone Tuba and Euphonium Festival. This third iteration takes the original track and transposes it to a key more fitting for beginning players yet maintaining the original spirit.
The New Band Electro-Acoustic Music (N-BEAM) consortium was formed in 2016, with the mission of fostering the creation and performance of new EA concert band literature for younger musicians. N-BEAM has contributed with several established composers - Daniel Montoya Jr., Brooke Pierson, Alex Shapiro, and Benjamin Taylor - each bringing their unique musical talents to this project. The N-BEAM consortium thanks the Bowling Green State University College of Musical Arts, Dr. KennethThompson, Director, and the Woodhaven Band Boosters for their sponsorship and support.
Conductor Notes
This piece is designed as "press play and go". The electronic track begins with 4 measures (4/4 time) indicated in the parts and score leading up to the entrance in measure 3. There is a click track available for rehearsal in addition to the performance track (which is designed in a way where pulse is fairly easy to determine throughout).
